State trooper injured by man in southern Oregon recovering

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say an Oregon State Police trooper who was hurt Friday in a shooting in southern Oregon is recovering. State Police said on Facebook that Trooper Kameron Gordon is “doing well.” Police say Gordon was injured in an incident that began with a report of an intoxicated man trying to take his children in Klamath Falls. Klamath County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded but the man had left with a child and a weapon. Police say his vehicle was observed by a trooper a short time later. Police say a chase ended when deputies deployed a spike strip on Highway 97, the vehicle stopped and the driver fired at officers. Law enforcement returned fire. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
