The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued 28 penalties totaling $571,755 in February and March for various environmental violations. Two of the fines occurred in Sherman County.
The Biggs Service District was fined $1,950 for water quality and Pilot Travel Centers LLC was fined $79,611 in connection with an underground fuel tank.
Organizations or individuals must either pay the fines or file an appeal within 20 days of receiving notice of the penalty. They may be able to offset a portion of a penalty by funding a supplemental environmental project that improves Oregon’s environment.
