On February 4, 2020, the Northern Wasco County PUD (PUD) Board of Directors approved a rate increase to become effective with May 2020 bills. Due the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the board convened in a Special Session Wednesday to re-visit that decision, and unanimously approved a resolution to postpone a rate increase until May of 2021.
A press release quoted director Howard Gonser as saying, “This decision was absolutely the right thing to do,” and General Manager Roger Kline added “The continued system safety and delivery of reliable electric service has never been more important as people stay home and stay safe.”The release also reminded PUD customers that they have suspended service disconnects for nonpayment and suspended late payment fees. “We will keep the lights on while we all work to take care of each other,” the press release read. “For now, please take care of yourself, your family, and your neighbors.”
