Man accused in fatal Burlington shooting arrested

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) — A 19-year-old man accused in the shooting death of a man in Burlington last week has been arrested. The Skagit Valley Herald reports Christian Flores was arrested about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday by a Mount Vernon police officer. Burlington police Sgt. Mike Lumpkin says the officer was contacting a suspicious person at a Mount Vernon park. The man gave a fake name, but was later determined to be Flores. Lumpkin Flores was unarmed and arrested without incident. Flores had been on the run since Friday, after police say he shot and killed Douglas Gunter at the Big Skagit Mini-Mart in Burlington.
