Dozens out sick at Vancouver schools, Seattle school closed

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Dozens of students are out sick at three Vancouver Public Schools elementary schools and one Seattle elementary school will be closed Friday because of illness. The Columbian reports at Harry S. Truman Elementary School, more than 60 students have been out ill since Monday. District spokeswoman Pat Nuzzo says students have fever, coughing and flu-like symptoms. Some students also had vomiting and diarrhea. Two other schools have had large numbers of students out sick. KCPQ-TV reports that Leschi Elementary will be closed Friday for cleaning after over 100 students and staff members reported being sick Thursday, according to Seattle Public Schools.
