Trump, allies aim to delegitimize impeachment from the start

They’re calling it a charade, a farce and sheer zaniness. The White House and President Donald Trump’s Republican allies in Congress have spent weeks now working to delegitimize the House impeachment inquiry before an expected vote. Their message to persuadable voters is that the president’s impeachment by the House of Representatives is a waste of time and doesn’t matter. The two articles of impeachment unveiled by House Democrats against Trump on Tuesday accuse him of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Democrats say Trump “betrayed the nation” with his actions toward Ukraine.
