Officials: Deputy tries to stop wrong-way driver

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a Clark County Sheriff’s deputy was struck by a driver who was attempting to get onto Interstate 5 going the wrong way. The sheriff’s office says the deputy activated his emergency lights and positioned his car to try to stop the driver but the driver collided with the deputy’s vehicle. The office says the driver was not hurt, and the deputy was taken to and released from an area hospital.
