Goldendale Fire – King Street

The Goldendale Fire Department was paged to a structure fire near the corner of King St and NE 3rd St at approximately 535 a.m. on November 28, 2019.  On initial report, responding units where advised that the trailer may be occupied. It was unknown if anyone was inside, however, the structure was fully involved and fire was extending to nearby vehicles.  The assistance of Rural 7 Fire, Goldendale Medic and Klickitat PUD was requested.

Fire Chief Noah Halm arrived on scene within minutes of the call, completing an initial assessment and establishing a plan of attack for the incoming units. Crews worked quickly upon arrival. “We dread any fire calls where injuries or people’s lives are in jeopardy”, said Chief Halm, “being a volunteer department we know the clock is against us. We train to do the best work, safe and in the best time possible. The fire was quickly extinguished after arrival.  At this time, we have no reason to believe anyone was inside.

Once again, the quick actions of all First Responders including, 911 Dispatchers, Firefighters and crews from all the responding agencies made a difference. Our Firefighters respond from wherever they may be when the page goes out, dropping anything they may be doing. The Goldendale Fire Department extends their gratitude to the Ponderosa Hotel who delivered breakfast to the firefighters early this morning.

We would like everyone to have a safe Thanksgiving weekend, continuing on through the holiday season. Be sure there are working smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in your homes. Never plug heaters into power strips. Fire crews have already responded to multiple electrical fires as a result of heaters being plugged into extension cords or power strips.
