Stolen Pick-up ends up in rollover crash

On November 14th at 11:07pm, Morrow County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received a call from a local Heppner resident to advise that someone had just stolen her pick-up truck. Deputy Taylor Wasserman was on duty in South Morrow County and began looking for the vehicle.  Less than one hour later, the subject ultimately charged with stealing that truck, called to advise he had been in an accident.  Deputy Wasserman, Lt. Terry Harper, and P&P Deputy Curtis Harper all responded, along with Heppner Fire and Heppner Ambulance to the scene, near Upper Rhea Creek Road and Lunceford Canyon Road.  The pick-up truck was traveling on Lunceford Canyon Road, left the roadway, rolled several times and came to rest, near Upper Rhea Creek Road.  The driver then made his way, out of the pick-up truck and walked to a near-by residence, where he placed the call to the Sheriff’s Office.  The ambulance transported the driver to Pioneer Memorial Hospital where Cpl. Ryan Jundt responded to meet the ambulance. After the driver was medically cleared, he was transported to the Umatilla County Jail.

Drion Mark Donner, 30, from Heppner was lodged in the Umatilla County Jail on charges of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Driving While Under the Influence of Intoxicants with a bail of $15,000.  He was also cited for Driving While Suspended-Violation, Fail to Drive Within Lane and Refusal to Take a Breath Test.
