Yesterday we announced that Oregon’s 2nd district Representative Greg Walden would not seek re-election in 2020 after serving in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1998. The rumblings of who would run to take his place have begun.
Oregon State Senator Cliff Bentz who represents District 30 has said he will take a run at the 2nd district seat. Bentz is a Republican out of Ontario.
Knute Buehler of Bend who ran against Kate Brown for Governor of Oregon has said he is considering at run at Walden’s seat.
Former Oregon Senator Jason Atkinson of Central Point is also taking a look at running.
There has been some who are wondering if Jamie McLeod-Skinner who lost to Walden in 2018 would seek the nomination on the Democratic side. At this point, McLead-Skinner is in the race for Oregon’s Secretary of State office, no word on her intentions.
