Klickitat County K-9 Program

Due to the outpouring of support from the local community, and funds secured through a nonprofit organization grant, things are going well for the Klickitat county Canine program to soon have its own track dog, perhaps as little as two weeks from now.

Sheriff Bob Songer says: generous funds collected so far, not only will pay for the acquisition of the canine itself coming here from Europe, but will provide the necessary training for the dog and its handler Gaven Marble, including ten weeks of intense training at the Washington state Academy.

He went on to say that 100 percent of all community donations go directly to the Canine program to fund tracking for lost or dangerous persons and later on, drug detection

Songer added: “None of this would have happened, had it not been for the support of the local community the past few months.”
