In other news from last night, the city urban renewal agency has called for a special meeting on Wednesday night at 5:30 to deal with an engineer’s report that says part of the Recreation building that suffered a roof collapse will have to be demolished. City Planning Director Steve Harris described the agenda for that meeting:

Harris told the council that when the bowling alley was installed in 1958, they had to remove some of the upright supports for the alleys. Harris said the Urban Renewal meeting will likely award the contract for partial demolition and noted that both lanes of traffic on Second Street might have to be closed during the demolition for safety’s sake.
