SEATTLE (AP) — Authorities say a 14-year-old boy who was brought to a Seattle hospital after he was rescued from Lake Washington has died.
KING-TV reports the teen was swimming in the lake near the city’s Magnuson Park when he went under the water Monday afternoon.
Witnesses say the teen was pulled to a floating dock where an off-duty firefighter, a nurse and a doctor performed CPR.
The fire department and a police boat responded and took the boy to Harborview Medical Center.
Harborview officials said the teen arrived in critical condition and said Tuesday that the boy had died.
Seattle Fire Capt. Shata Stephenson says it’s unclear what caused the teen’s emergency.
The beach at Magnuson Park is now closed to swimmers after E. coli was detected.
