Longtime AP reporter, broadcast editor dead at 59

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Annie Shooman, an Associated Press reporter and broadcast editor who worked in four states, has died.

Shooman died Tuesday at a hospital outside Portland, Oregon, from complications of multiple sclerosis at age 59.

Shooman worked in Los Angeles; Charleston, West Virginia; and Boston before ending her AP career in Portland, Oregon.

In Portland, she served as the state’s broadcast wire editor until 2008.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie Castro, and her sister Diane Shooman.
