Serene Perkins named new Chief Medical Officer at MCMC

Serene Perkins, MD, FACS, is the new Chief Medical Officer at Mid-Columbia Medical Center. She’s had a distinguished career following medical school at the University of Chicago and residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She served overseas in South Asia for three years helping build relationships with hospitals there and OHSU.

She followed that with a fellowship in Hepatobiliary (liver) and Pancreatic Surgical Oncology at the University of Toronto, and served as Director of the Surgical Program at Legacy Institute for Surgical Education and Innovation.

A surgical oncologist by training, she was also Director of the Legacy Tumor Bank and was involved in several clinical and pre-clinical research studies.  She also pioneered and led the International Surgery Program at Oregon Health and Science University.

She says she’s delighted with the new position and with the caliber of the staff at MCMC under the direction of Dennis Knox.
