Teen pleads not guilty in shooting death of Edmonds girl

EDMONDS, Wash. (AP) — A 16-year-old Washington state boy charged in the shooting death of a teenage Edmonds girl has pleaded not guilty.

The Daily Herald reports the teen is charged in adult court in Snohomish County with first-degree manslaughter in the death of 17-year-old Gala Zuehlke.

Zuehlke was fatally shot inside her apartment on Nov. 30. The medical examiner determined the shooter was likely standing 1 to 3 feet away from the girl.

According to charging documents, the teen told police he got a .44-caliber revolver from a friend’s apartment and brought it to Zuehlke’s home.

The documents say the teen aimed the gun at Zuehlke, wanting to see her reaction and thinking the bullet was at the bottom of the cylinder. The bullet struck her in the face.
