Goldendale City Council sets double meeting for Monday November 5

It’s a busy night for the Goldendale City Council, which will hold a special city council meeting at 6 pm Monday, Nov. 5, in order to continue a council workshop on preparation of an update to the City’s Park and Recreation Comprehensive Plan. That will be followed at 7 pm by the regular council meeting. Items on the agenda there include presentation of the 2019 budget, approval of a capital outlay of $13,700 to build a 24 x 48 storage building for the police department. It would be used to protect the criminal scene trailer, emergency response vehicle, DARE car and radar speed unit trailers from the elements and would be constructed behind the existing police department building. Council members will also consider a proposal to use the back offices at City Hall by leasing out office space, especially for entities or persons who want to telecommute and need a high-speed broadband Internet connection. There are six offices ranging in size from 60 to 110 square feet, and the committee suggests a six-month trial period. They already have a person interested in such an arrangement. And there is an executive session planned on property negotiations.
