WOODINVILLE, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say they’re investigating after a deputy-involved shooting of a stabbing suspect in Woodinville.
The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response team says the shooting occurred at about 5:15 a.m. Wednesday after the 42-year-old man backed his sport-utility vehicle into a Camaro in Lynnwood, got out, struck the Camaro with a hatchet and stabbed the car’s driver.
Deputies spotted the vehicle in Everett and tried to stop it, but it fled onto Interstate 5 and then Highway 520 and streets in Woodinville. The chase ended when a deputy forced it off the road and shots were fired.
The suspect was taken to Harborview Medical Center. His condition was not immediately known; a hospital spokeswoman referred calls to police, and an agency spokeswoman said she did not know his condition Wednesday afternoon.
Three deputies have been placed on administrative leave per standard practice. The driver of the Camaro was treated by aid units.
