Wasco County Clerk Lisa Gambee provides key dates for election

I thought I would share the upcoming deadlines for the General Election on November 6, 2018:
  • Tuesday, October 16, 2018 – Last day to register to vote. The Wasco County Elections Office will be open until 5 pm. Online registration is available atoregonvotes.gov
  • Wednesday, October 17, 2018 – Ballots are mailed (military, overseas and out-of-state have already mailed). Ballots should arrive in mailboxes within 2-3 days depending on where you live in the County.
  • Tuesday, October 30, 2018 – Public Test of the ballot tabulation system starts at 3:30 pm. Please contact our office at 541-506-2530 if you would like to attend.
  • Wednesday, October 31, 2018 – Last day we recommend returning a ballot via mail to be received in time. After this we suggest dropping the ballot off at the election office or the 24-hour drop box at the 5th Street entrance of the Courthouse.  Voters in the Mosier area can drop their ballots off with the Hood River Elections office if they prefer.
  • Tuesday, November 6, 2018 – Election Day! All election offices are open from 7 am to 8 pm. Rotary Club will have the Ballot Drive-Thru on 5th Street from 7 am to 8 pm.
  • Voter’s Pamphlets have mailed out already. Extra copies are available in our office if people have not received one.

Four years ago in the November 2014 election, Wasco County had a 74% turnout, with 12,938 voters. This year, we currently have 17,318 registered voters – an almost 34% increase from four years ago.
