

The wildfire that started near Biggs Tuesday flared up again yesterday afternoon. Social media reported at least one structure to the west of Biggs was involved and Highway 30 west of Biggs was closed for a time. No further information was immediately available

A fast-moving wildfire pushed by high winds started yesterday afternoon behind Three Rivers in Biggs Junction racing south and west then east Fire jumped Hwy 97 around milepost 4.5, and traveled to Scott Canyon. For several hours 97 was closed between Biggs and Wasco. Motorists were directed to use US197 via The Dalles as a detour. It re-opened around 8:30 PM, with caution and heavy smoke. And Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue was able to knock down a fire off I-84 at Milepost 82 near Taylor Lakes yesterday afternoon. The initial attack was successful and firefighters were mopping up yesterday evening.
