The 57th annual Huckleberry Festival kicks off tonight at Daubenspeck Park in Bingen with Samoa Dancers at 6:30 tonight and headliner bank Live Wire playing from 8 to 11 pm. The Festival runs through Sunday . with activities for kids including a coin dig Saturday at noon following the parade at 11, lots of live music and huckleberry everything, from pies to pancakes to pork tenderloin with wild huckleberry sauce.
Just the Blues: CGOA Jazz Collective Big Band plus special guest Ernie Sterno and the Blind Drunks a blues trio made up of Ben Bonham, Jeff Minnick and Don Campbell. – tonight at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2:30 pm at Wy’East Middle School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $20 Adults, $15 for CGOA Members, $5 kids 10-17 and free for kids under 10.

30th Annual Aluminum Man Triathalon starts at Riverfront Park in The Dalles at 9 am. One of the longest consecutive annual triathlons and duathlons in the Pacific Northwest, the Aluminum Man features a swim in the Columbia River, run on the scenic Riverfront Trail, and a bike course through rolling hills and farmland, with vista views of Mt. Hood. Everyone 10 & up welcome to participate! The September monthly meeting of the Columbia Gorge Genealogical Society will be on September 8, 2018 at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center. The general meeting and program will begin at 10:30 am with this months speaker Sandy Bisset . The program ” The Elusive Dr. Brooks – Early Physician in Jacksonville and The Dalles” Public is always welcome. A $1.00 donation is suggested to cover room fees.
