Man suffers fatal fall while clearing trees from bluff

PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a 74-year-old man died after he fell off a bluff while clearing trees behind his Port Angeles home.

KOMO-TV reports Lyman Twing had been cutting trees for much of the day Monday, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office says he went inside for dinner, told his wife he was getting tired and would finish up after the meal.

The sheriff’s office says his wife went out to check on him later but couldn’t find him.

She then found his truck parked next to the bluff with a cable attached and a ladder and chain saw nearby. She called police to report him missing.

Deputies found Lyman’s body on a path to the beach at bottom of the bluff.
