Shooting at esports event raises questions of security

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A shooting at a video game competition in Florida has left two people dead along with the suspect and prompted calls from gamers for more security at esports tournaments.

It’s unclear what kind of security was at the event on Sunday, which was held at a game bar inside a waterfront mall. One gamer said he didn’t see any security at the venue.

Many top players and industry watchers said Sunday that security hasn’t caught up with the seriousness of the sport.
