Police: Teen looking at phone hit by MAX train in Beaverton

BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) — Police say a teenager distracted by her cellphone was injured when she walked into the path of a light-rail train outside Portland.

Beaverton police say witnesses told police the 17-year-old girl was looking down at her phone and apparently didn’t notice the oncoming train while crossing the MAX train tracks in Beaverton Monday afternoon.

Police say the girl was conscious and alert when officers arrived. She was taken to a hospital.
