City seeks public input on temporary traffic calming demonstration at Dry Hollow School

The eight-day temporary traffic calming demonstration project at the Dry Hollow Elementary School will be completed on Wednesday, June 13th. The purpose of the project was to test the effectiveness of a number of potential traffic calming measures to improve student and traffic safety during the busy drop-off and pick-up times at Dry Hollow Elementary School. The demonstration project was intended to develop data on the viability of various traffic modifications and to give an opportunity for users and residents to provide feedback regarding various elements of the project.

The City wants to reiterate that no decisions have been made regarding which, if any, permanent modifications might be made to improve school-related traffic conditions. If permanent modifications are proposed to be constructed within the East 19th Street right-of-way, they will be presented and discussed in public workshops with users and residents to solicit input prior to implementation.

The public is invited to provide feedback and input related to the demonstration project at www.dryhollow.org or to dmccabe@ci.the-dalles.or.us, or mailed to The Dalles Public Works Department, 1215 W 1st Street, The Dalles.
