Coast Guard suspends search for man missing in plane crash

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. (AP) — One person was rescued and one is missing after a small plane crashed in Eagle Harbor, off Bainbridge Island, Washington.

KOMO-TV reports that two people were aboard the small plane, a Cessna 150. The plane sank after crashing Sunday.

The U.S. Coast Guard said Sunday night that a female was rescued and a man in his 70s is missing.

The Coast Guard suspended the search Monday afternoon. They searched Sunday and Monday but didn’t find the man.

A fire-rescue vessel used SONAR but was unable to locate the sunken aircraft.

The Coast Guard says the search may resume pending additional information.

A good Samaritan brought the woman, in her 60s, to shore. The woman was later taken to Harborview Medical Center, where she was in critical condition Sunday night.

The National Transportation Safety Board says it will investigate the crash.
