VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — Clark County deputies say a domestic violence assault suspect died after resisting arrest.
The Columbian reports that deputies went to a residence on Sunday for reports of an assault.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says officers decided to arrest the suspect at the scene, but he resisted.
The sheriff’s office says medics were called to the scene due to the suspect having difficulty breathing after being detained. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deputies involved have been placed on paid administrative leave.
The Regional Major Crimes Team led by the Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit is conducting the independent investigation into the suspect’s death.
