A new city next to Hood River? That was a proposal floated by Andreas von Flotow last Tuesday at a Hood River County Commissioners work session. Von Flowtow who owns property in the area, proposes a new city of Mitchell Ridge abutting the current city of Hood River to the west. Attorneys for the Friends of the Gorge note that this would remove land currently in the National Scenic Area, which they say would require an actual Act of Congress to implement.
