FREDERICKSON, Wash. (AP) — Authorities have identified a man arrested in the slaying of a sheriff’s deputy in Washington state.
Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Ed Troyer identified the suspect Monday as 32-year-old Frank William Pawul.
Pawul is expected to make his first court appearance Tuesday in the shooting death of Deputy Daniel McCartney.
McCartney was fatally shot during a foot chase late Sunday night as he responded to a home invasion in the Frederickson area, southeast of Tacoma.
A suspect in his mid-30s was found dead at the scene and authorities say another suspect escaped, prompting a manhunt that ended with the arrest of Pawul.
