Teachers vs MCMC basketball game Dec. 14 raises funds for homeless childen

The Dalles —Join us Thursday, December 14th at 6:30 p.m. at The Dalles High School Kurtz Gymnasium as MCMC medical providers take on District 21 teachers and coaches in an action-packed basketball game for a great local cause.

Proceeds will benefit the Community Backpack Program, which provides backpacks, hygiene products and a weekend’s worth of food to local homeless and low income students. Program Coordinators Glenis Schreffler and Linda Elsberry make sure every backpack is prepared to fit individual student needs to help them lead healthy and successful lives.

“As medical professionals we want to be active in building a healthier community and enhancing the lives of our patients beyond the walls of the hospital,” said Dr. Paula Lee-Valkov, a radiologist at MCMC, who helped coordinate the event. “This is such a worthy cause and benefits some of our most vulnerable community members.”

Come help us cheer for a cause! Admission is $2 at the door. For more information, contact MCMC marketing manager Athena Miller at 541.506.6408 or via email, athenajo@mcmc.net.
