Detective shoots driver of stolen car in Auburn

SEATTLE (AP) — Police say a detective shot and wounded an armed man suspected of driving a stolen car in the Seattle suburb of Auburn.

KOMO-TV reports two detectives on Wednesday afternoon were pursuing a man in a stolen car who ran a red light and hit another car on Auburn Way North near Eighth Street Northeast.

Auburn police Cmdr. Mark Caillier says detectives followed the man as he exited the car and fled.

Caillier says the driver then produced a gun and one of the detectives opened fire.

The man was flown to Harborview Medical Center. His condition wasn’t immediately known.

Police say no officers were hurt in the incident and police are not looking for anyone else.
