Bicyclist killed after being struck by vehicle in Bend

BEND, Ore. (AP) — A bicyclist in Bend has been killed after being struck by a vehicle.

The Bulletin reports that the bicyclist died at the scene Monday morning. Bend Police Department spokesman Lt. Clint Burleigh says the person was hit at the intersection of Olney Avenue and Wall Street.

The police department was still working to inform the deceased’s family as of Monday afternoon. Burleigh did not share information about the cyclist or driver, saying the incident is under investigation.

He could not confirm whether the cyclist was wearing a helmet or whether speed was a factor.

Burleigh also could not say whether Monday’s rainy weather was a factor.
