House Republican Leader Mike McLane thanks former Rep. John Huffman for his service to the State of Oregon

Salem, Ore. – House Republican Leader Mike McLane (R-Powell Butte) issued the following statement commending former Representative John Huffman for his decade-plus of service as a state lawmaker:

“John Huffman is a people first, politics second public servant who has worked tirelessly on behalf of his constituents for more than a decade. It has been a great privilege to serve alongside him, learn from him and watch him represent House District 59 with humility and class. John will always be a great friend, and I wish him all the best as he continues his career.”

Representative Huffman submitted his formal resignation letter to Secretary of State Dennis Richardson onSaturday, October 28, 2017. Republican precinct committee persons will now be tasked with nominating 3-5 candidates to fill the vacancy in House District 59. County commissioners from Wasco, Wheeler, Jefferson and Deschutes Counties will then vote to appoint the next representative for the district from the group of nominated candidates. This process must take place within 30 days of the resignation date.
