Police: Employee made false robbery report to cover up theft

UGENE, Ore. (AP) — A convenience store employee who reported an armed robbery has been arrested after police say the employee is the one who stole the store’s cash.

The Register-Guard reports in a story on Friday that police arrested 25-year-old Justin James Linn of Eugene on suspicion of initiating a false report.

Police on Oct. 22 responded to the Buy 2 Market in Eugene after receiving a report of an armed robbery.

No suspect was found and investigators ultimately concluded no armed robbery had occurred.
