Judge extends school district’s protection order against man

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) — A Kitsap County District Court Judge has extended a temporary protection order sought by a school district against a 78-year-old man suspected of sending anonymous threatening letters.

The Kitsap Sun reports that Judge Marilyn Paja on Friday extended the order that prohibits Larry Lee Mann from being within 500 feet of any South Kitsap School District facility along with other restrictions.

The district more than a year ago began receiving letters signed by “Texas Momma” and “Prince of Darkness” that included threats.

Suspicion turned to Mann when officials say he sent a letter to a student with handwriting on the envelope that matched handwriting on the envelopes containing anonymous letters.

Mann in court denied writing the letters but says he forwarded letters he received by mail to the school.
