MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) — A Washington state man faces a minimum of 10 years in prison after being convicted of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, illegal possession of ammunition and other drug distribution charges.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports that 30-year-old Angel Serrano-Carreno was convicted at trial this week.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle states that Serrano-Carreno was one of 17 people arrested in an investigation called “Operation Car Wash.” Serrano-Carreno and others are accused of meeting at a car wash in Mount Vernon to conduct drug deals.
The attorney’s office states law enforcement searched more than two dozen locations and seized more than 4 kilograms (8.8 pounds) of cocaine, almost $300,000 in cash, more than 20 firearms, 8 kilograms (17.6 pounds) of methamphetamine and nearly a kilogram of heroin.
