Spokane woman charged with vehicular homicide and assault

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A woman has been charged with one count of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular assault after a car crashed into a group of people in Spokane, Washington, over the weekend.

On Monday, 24-year-old Brittney Moen appeared in court in Spokane and was ordered held on $50,000 bail.

KREM-TV reports that a car allegedly driven by Moen was traveling at a high rate of speed at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday when it jumped a curb and slammed into a Subway restaurant on the city’s north side, hitting three people.

Spokane police spokesman Ben Maplethorpe says an adult male was taken to the hospital, but died of his injuries.

Two other people were seriously injured.
