BEND, Ore. (AP) — The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office has fired one sergeant and placed another on administrative leave.
The Bend Bulletin reports corrections Sgt. Paul Navarro was fired on Wednesday, while corrections Sgt. Mike Molan was put on leave.
Representatives from the office declined to comment on what either of the two men had done, but noted that Navarro was fired because he “violated sheriff’s office policies.” Sheriff Shane Nelson said Navarro has 15 days to request a name-clearing hearing. Nelson said he would not discuss his conduct until after that.
A name-clearing hearing is an opportunity for a fired employee to submit an explanation of events and air any grievances.
The Sheriff’s Office states Navarro had been on administrative leave since May 3.
