(THE DALLES) Spring is around the corner. This means it’s the start of yard sale season. The City of The Dalles wants to remind citizens that there are three local sign boards designed to accommodate the community’s need for garage and yard sale sign postings.
Each garage and yard sale board can post thirty (30) listings. They are located at the following addresses:
*Mid-Columbia Senior Center 1112 West 9th Street
*St. Vincent DePaul 505 West 9th Street
*The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce 404 West 2nd Street
Citizens can come during regular business hours at any of these sites to pick up the materials for posting information for their garage sale.
Citizens are reminded that the City Land Use and Development Ordinance #98-1222; Section 13.010.10 (I) provides that Garage Sale signs are allowed, one per calendar month to a premise, with a maximum of three square feet in area. Signs are not to exceed 72 hours in duration.
Signs cannot be placed on the public right of way and may only be placed on the property where the garage or yard sale is being held. Citizens who place their signs on the City public right-of-way areas and do not conform to the Land Use and Development Ordinance will be subject to enforcement proceedings.
