Big news from the city council last night comes from Columbia Phytotechnology. The company invented a breakthrough food drying process that produces powders for juices, smoothie mixes, baked goods, nutritional supplements and more.
They recently relocated to The Dalles into the 75,000 square foot former Homeshield building and applied for an extended tax abatement program for five years. City councilors agreed to a deal in which the company agreed to employ at least 50 employees by the end of next year and pay them an average of 150 percent out the average wage in Wasco County.
