Police: mobile home deaths were murder-suicide

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Police in Spokane now say they believe the two people found dead after a mobile home fire early Monday died in a murder-suicide.

Police Sgt. Lydia Taylor said Tuesday in a statement that detectives think the fire was set by the homicide suspect before he committed suicide. A gun was recovered.

KXLY-TV reports that the Spokane County medical examiner has identified one of those who died at the Cascade Mobile Home Park as 50-year-old Keith Barber. The medical examiner says determining the cause of Barber’s death requires further investigation.

KREM-TV reports that neighbors say that Barber lived in the mobile home with his fiancee.

They say the couple had been planning to marry this week.
