Polar Plunge starts new year with a chilly ritual


A group of 58 brave (or foolhardy — take your pick) people not only jumped into the Columbia yesterday, but paid good money for the privilege. The sixth annual Polar Plunge was a fundraiser for the Central Klickitat Park and Recreation District swimming pool. Director Lori Anderson said some folks found a different way to contribute this year.

That value drew audience from out of the area as well. Amanda Mathena and her husband Chris drove up from Vancouver just for the event

Director Lori Anderson said the event raised $1,800 for the Goldendale Pool, and featured four more plungers than last year.
