More State jobs recommended to be cut

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Legislative officials in Salem have recommended eliminating 188 state jobs, most of them from middle management. The recommendation of the Legislative Fiscal Office was developed based on the Legislature’s mandate earlier this year to permanently cut $28 million in state government spending. The Emergency Board is scheduled to vote on the plan tomorrow. Many of the 188 positions slated for elimination are currently vacant, so the number of layoffs will be smaller.
