GLENWOOD MAN GUILTY OF 6 COUNTS, GETS 86 MONTHS

A jury deliberated less than one hour on April 5, 2012 before finding Kirt Anthony McPherson, 32, of Glenwood, guilty of four counts of Assault in the Second Degree – Deadly Weapon, one involving Domestic Violence, and one count each of Malicious Mischief in the Second Degree and Reckless Driving.

At trial, witnesses testified that Mr. McPherson attempted to run down his girlfriend with his pickup truck. She eventually escaped into a snow bank, over a barb wire fence and into the woods, arriving at the home of a stranger, soaking wet and hysterical. McPherson also rammed his truck into a vehicle driven by his girlfriend’s friend who had come to rescue her. This vehicle was carrying two very young children at the time of the attack.

Mr. McPherson was sentenced on April 16, 2012 to concurrent 80 month sentences on each of the four Assault charges and 6 months on the Malicious Mischief charge, all felonies. Following his completion of the felony sentence in state prison, McPherson will be returned to the Klickitat County Jail where he will serve a consecutive six months for the gross misdemeanor Reckless Driving conviction.

Restitution will be determined at a hearing set at a later date.
