City tackles tough topics at tonight’s meeting

It’s a big meeting tonight  for The Dalles City Counci, which meets tonight at 5:30 p.m., city hall council chambers, 313 Court St., The Dalles. Items on the agenda: public hearing on proposed amendments to Land Use Development Ordinance; award contract for construction of airport taxiway project; authorization to purchase oil emulsion for chip seal projects on Mt. Hood Street and Dry Hollow Road; authorization to purchase a skid-steer compact loader; adoption of final report proposing assessment and providing for notices and hearing for West First Street, Terminal Way and Bargeway Road reconstruction; resolution adopting a central business commercial vertical housing development zone; special ordinance authorizing operation of all terrain vehicles upon a designated street in city limits; special ordinance renewing and extending franchise for The Dalles Disposal Service and declaring an emergency.

And immediately following the city council meeting, councilors will change hats and meet as the  Columbia Gateway Urban Renewal Agency. On the agenda: approval of The Dalles’ fraud policy; request from Rapoza to extend purchase deadline for Phase 1 of Granada Block redevelopment project for 120 days.
