Here comes the serious fire season. Starting Sunday, July 1 there is a countywide burn ban in effect in Klickitat County through September 1. Also starting July 1, a burn ban will be in effect for Rufus, Wasco and Moro in Sherman County as well as the Moro Rural Fire Protection District and the North Sherman Rural Fire Protection District. The ban includes barrels, incinerators and agricultural burning.
Beginning July 1, 2012, there will be a statewide burn ban in effect on all Department of Natural Resources protected lands through September 30, 2012. This means all forestlands in Washington under DNR fire protection; the burn ban does not apply to federal land
