Several dozen people attended an informational meeting last night in Shaniko on the proposed Brush Canyon Wind Power Facility which would construct 223 wind turbines in southern Wasco and Sherman County. Sue Oliver of the Energy Facilities Siting Council (EFSC) said the application from E.ON Climate and Renewables had been deemed complete in March. She said the next step is for the ESFC staff to draft what they call a Draft Proposed Order (DPO) which is a formal staff report in which they make their recommendations to the council, including whether or not the proposal should be granted a site certificate, and, if so, what conditions would be in that site certificate. It also starts a very formal public hearing process, which will involve taking written and oral testimony from interested parties. Mike Greczyn of E.ON Climate and Renewables also spoke to the group and answered questions, as did representatives of the Bonneville Power Administration.
