Timothy Ramsey was named the new president and chief executive officer of Oregon Cherry Growers last November, succeeding Ed Johnson, who retired at the end of 2012. Ramsey, who attended the Stanford Graduate School of Business Program for Executives, has extensive experience leading companies and launching new products. He joined the Cherry Growers from La Terra Fina USA, where he was chief operations officer. Prior to that, he was vice president of sales and marketing for Pacific Foods of Oregon.
Oregon Cherry Growers is based in Salem with an extensiver operation in The Dalles. The grower co-operative produces fresh sweet cherries for domestic and international markets. As The Good Fruit Grower pointed out, it is also one of the largest sweet cherry processors of all types of cherry products: maraschino, frozen, brined, glacé, ingredient, dried, and canned. Ramsey visited The Dalles operation Friday (April 5) with new Vice President for Marketing Julie Poduch and Erika Simms, Account Director for Maxwell PR + Engagement.
